In Defense of 5th & 6th Graders

Supremely Destructive Leaders

Amidst all the hubbub from Bob Woodward’s FEAR book detailing the Crazytown White House, it has been noted that our so-called president exhibits an understanding of National Security at about a 5th or 6th grade level.

Specifically, in trying to explain to him why we need to maintain military presence on the Korean Peninsula, in order to

…detect a North Korean missile launch in seven seconds vs. 15 minutes from Alaska, according to Woodward. Trump questioned why the government was spending resources in the region at all.

“We’re doing this in order to prevent World War III,” Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told him.

After Trump left the meeting, Woodward recounts, “Mattis was particularly exasperated and alarmed, telling close associates that the president acted like — and had the understanding of — ‘a fifth- or sixth-grader.’ ”

First of all, I’m quite sure my seven year old could understand this, as a 2nd grader.

But moreover, the fifth and sixth graders that I know are beautiful young humans that possess something our so-called president does not;

a willingness, interest and ability to LEARN.

They’ve also probably heard of empathy, but that is another topic.

How the Kids Dressed Themselves Today

AT RISE:  After bringing Boy up to date on the prominent extraordinary current events such as:

  1. Ayanna Pressley’s historic win in our OWN Congressional District,
  2. The GOP trying to bum-rush the Kavenaugh SCOTUS nomination hearing,
  3. Bob Woodward’s new book, FEAR, detailing the “Crazytown” White House,
  4. Anonymous rogue operatives taking government protocol into their own hands from within the White House;

Mom notices Gavin is wearing his Colin Kaepernick t-shirt to school and is telling him about the new Nike “Believe in Something” campaign featuring Kaepernick (re-igniting the tantrums of racists who believe blacks have no right to peacefully protest inequality during the national anthem).

Mom:  So guess what the racists are doing then?

Gavin:  What?

Mom:  Burning their sneakers!

Gavin:

Uncontrollable, hysterical laughter.

These Goddesses Right Here

US House candidate, NY-14

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Retweeted Justice Democrats

Congratulations to my sister in service, , on continuing her historic path into Congress tonight. Let’s push together to make Medicare for All, tuition free college, & living wages a reality in America – all without corporate PAC money. 🇺🇸

About the above photo:

US House candidate, NY-14

This photo was taken months ago. . + I bonded over running while constantly told it’s “not our turn,” that we “weren’t ready,” “good enough,” or “experienced” enough. We kept going anyway. In June, I won my primary. Tonight, she won hers. Here’s to November.

This Goddess Right Here – Ayanna Pressley

After last night’s spectacular win in MY DISTRICT by U.S. Congresswoman-Elect AYANNA PRESSLEY, I felt emboldened and curious enough this morning to give ol’ Faux News a whirl.   And you’ll never guess what I found.

#1)  DIVERSITY!

It’s true; they had a brunette on as a guest.

Look!

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/09/04/dem-backed-by-ocasio-cortez-upsets-rep-capuano-in-massachusetts-house-primary.html

I don’t know who this brave soul is* but apparently she wades into the GOP Propaganda Machine regularly to do battle, and so articulately as well.  *(OK her name is Jessica Tarlov.)

Moreover,

#2)  SOCIALISM!!!

That is all Faux News has to say about the Progressive Values of the extraordinary candidates finally blossoming up through the old white, tired, oppressive weeds.  To wit:  Ocasio-Cortez, Gillum, Pressley… SANDERS.

This is how the Fox News Bubbleheads sound (and look on the inside) [0:07 secs]:

I love the final exchange in the piece however:

AT RISE:  Faux Blonde Bubbleheads #781, #437 and Articulate Brunette (brunette?!) are discussing the implications of Ayanna Pressley’s victory.

FBB #2,437:  This is Socialism!!  You may not want the label, but your party is embracing a failed ideology that has failed all across the globe.

FBB #1,789:  OK we gotta leave it there.  Thank you so mu…

Articulate Brunette:  Plenty of happy Europeans!

FBB #1,789:  [nervous laugh]  Thanks ladies.

Back to School! 2nd & 5th Grade

Tuesday, September 4th 2018

Somehow we make it back from camping  in time to get all our preening, prepping and sleeping done in time for a bang up blast back to school.

Daddy Chef too!

Back to School Chef!

Miss Katie, Mizzy, and ClaraJane’s new Unicorn Classroom Slippers (!!!):

As ClaraJane boing-boinged through the hallways, our Montessori Specialist Erin said, “I’ve never seen anyone so happy to go back to school in my life.  It’s awesome!”

Gavin was similarly upbeat and enthusiastic, if perhaps more self-contained.

And here are the hopes of our teachers for our students posted as a welcome back by our inestimable principal, Jaime Frost [1:21]:

It also happens to be Primary Election Day today… so back to fighting fascism it is.

These Are Not New Ideas

September 2nd 2018

My Lady, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, “Lays out how Democrats can win.”

When I get the chance I should like to transcribe these words.

But then you might not see or hear her speak for these two minutes of inestimable value right here:

Rock Painting

October 2018

Sample Inspiration

Captured here is merely a humble compendium of ideas I’ve been collecting to paint on rocks I’ve been collecting for the Peace Garden at my kids’ school among other things, into perpetuity.  In my abundantly discretionary time of course HA HA HA.

Please add suggestions in the comments as you see fit.

Above All, Be Kind

Just do your best

Kindness matters

Try try again

Never give up

Yes, AND!

It's okay to be imperfect!

When you get stuck, turn around and try it backwards!

That Time When

August 26th 2018

“Believe me,” I have a LOT to say about individuals rights to peacefully protest injustice (like NFL players’ highlighting unbridled violence against blacks). That is a post for another day.

BUT:

You’d THINK that the monkey in the White House who has so blatantly maligned their cause as disrespect to the American Flag; who publicly humps said flag; who emblazons its image on every shred of Chinese manufactured shwag for his own profit (in violation of both emoluments AND American flag etiquette); you’d THINK he knows what it looks like. Or could at least color in the stripes correctly, even AS he cheats off a nearby child.

NOPE Shake. My. Damn. Head.

PS: Maybe this is what he meant?

Mueller’s Indictment Song by James Corden

Friday, August 24th 2018

Truly O.M.G.

This inestimable gem was just brought to my attention, and now I bring it to yours; four minutes of pure gold.

Robert Mueller’s Indictment Song [3:57]:

                                           🎼🎵🎶🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶

“For paying off a pornographic actress who could never screw as many men as he does every day”

“I’m indicting him for looking like a syphilitic apricot with rotten scaly skin about to burst.”

“Mr. President, if I may be completely candid. I caught you red and tiny-handed.”

(Still hunting down all the lyrics.)

OMG so great.

Wishing you joy today… and all the days until this nightmare ends and we can begin picking up the pieces of our shattered democracy.

♥♥♥♥

(4 hearts; one for each pillar of our government including a free press.)
