Raindrops on Roses

Wednesday,August 22nd 2018

A little celebrating of the best news day since the apocalyptic beginning of this shameful sham of a so-called “presidency.”

(We also happened to get our hair did.)

2018-08-22 Mamma and Gavin Sing About the News [48 seconds]:

Even Dan Rather had to mark the occasion on this, the most scandalous and fateful day for the U.S. presidency since the notorious 1973 Watergate “Saturday Night Massacre.”

He even came up with a great new term for #45 and The GOP Agenda:

So much more to say but that’s enough for now. Here’s hoping we can start recovering from this international nightmare sooner than later.

Gorls on a Plane

Still Tuesday, August 21st 2018

My Dear Hubsand not only did a great job getting past airport security to accompany the Gorls all the way to the gate, he took pictures for me!

Omg look at my girl taking it like a champ.

Then it hits me.

That’s me!  The Unaccompanied Minor.

delete Trans_World_Airlines_Globe_Map_Logo_1

This is how I spent my childhood;  perpetually flying back and forth onTrans World Airlines between Oakland-Dad and Boston-Mom.  Except I started at five, initially with big brother in tow.

So my daughter’s trip isn’t about me.  But I do give myself a pass for having a Case of the Feels about it.

Besides, I do have a secret weapon.  I still have this monkey at home after all.  I got the numbers.

Lucky me.

We’ll be okay!

And also there’s still beer.

Oh My Heart

Tuesday,August 21st 2018

Today is the day my giant tiny littlest baby flies away for the first time. She already had the gall to turn SEVEN this summer. Now she’s flying off -with her 13 year old cousin at least- for a week in Florida with Grandma.

Of course I know everything will be fine.So what’s with this lump in my throat? This sting in my eyes? The heavy hollow weight in my chest?

Because I know for a fact none of us makes it out of this life alive?Because I know life is precious and tenuous and temporary and can come crashing down at any second? Will experiencing all the big little pings of existential angst along the way soften the final blow when we eventually do face our ultimate answer?I sure as hell hope so.At least I hope to leave no regrets for ever taking a single moment of all the true true true love for granted.

Anyway:

My Heart and Her Heart

Just Remember Girl:

No matter where you go…

Or what you do…

Or where I am…

YOU CANNOT EXCAPE MY LOVE!!!

OMG This Guy: Ohio’s Green Party Candidate

Sunday, August 19th 2018

del Joe Manchik

Out of curiosity I took a peek at the 3rd party candidate in this Ohio (12th District) race, Joe Manchik, ready to snicker because he claims to be descended from outer space.

Yet boy he knocks me out when he says this (at 1:43 in the video here):

“The democrats and republicans in Congress, they only represent the corporate interests and corporate profits of the multinational corporations that OWN the Democratic-Republican Duopoly Oligarchy Mafia Cartel.”

~Joe Manchik

I could not have said it better myself:

Democratic-Republican Duopoly Oligarchy Mafia Cartel.

I do believe that’s what we have:

Democratic-Republican Duopoly Oligarchy Mafia Cartel.

Let’s say it again.

Democratic-Republican Duopoly Oligarchy Mafia Cartel.

Yes indeed.

Which is why we need more independents like Senators Bernie Sanders and Angus King.  And progressives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

No doubt we need more traction in the Green department as well.

Check this out:

del Green Party

Ya, pretty much all of this.

Damn.

Danny O’Connor – The Fight Continues

Sunday, August 19th 2018

It has now been over 12 days since an election for U.S. Congress in Ohio’s 12th (traditionally very RED) District, came out with a margin too close to call.  It is now a tale of uncounted ballots and possibly -hopefully- a recount.  The underdog in this story is of course the Democratic candidate, this wonderful human being right here, Danny O’Connor.

Ohio Democrat Danny O’Connor: “This fight continues” [1:09]:

“Working people need a voice.”

“We need to make sure that the process is respected.”

“Too many people want a congressman that is going to represent every county.”

Q:  And what does he say to those who voted third party?

A:  “I thank them for voting.  Because participating in our democracy is the most important thing we can do.”   ~Danny O’Connor

So obvious right?  But so rare these days; such positive rhetoric and such respect for our hopeful attempts at democracy.  Plus I find him to exude a kind of humanistic positivity and grace that is irresistably inspiring.   That is why I have been sending his campaign $15 every few days to help fund what we hope will be a recount.

Here he is taking a stand for -gasp!- accessible healthcare:

Danny O’Connor:  ‘Saturday’ [30 seconds]:

And here he is taking a stand for new leadership, on -gasp!- BOTH sides of the aisle:

Danny O’Connor:  ‘New Leadership’ [30 seconds]:

Boy, just look at the that baby face.  How he gets “ticked off.”  And loves his mama.

Homemade vanilla ice cream for American pie the way I like it;  a la mode, FOR the people, and NOT CORRUPT.

Among his many endorsements is my fave, MOVEON.org, which fights for, you know:

Equality, Sustainability, Justice and Love.

delete this fucking asshole

Things this inhuman f*ing asshole nightmare over here will never understand.

GO. DANNY.  O’CONNOR.

At Rise: Ten Wushes by ClaraJane

Friday, August 10th  2018

AT RISE: The Oberhauser Four are on the way to the annual Sisters Weekend pilgrimage by the sea in Hull, Massachusetts.

ClaraJane:  If I could have ten wushes, wanna know what I’d wush!?

Mom:  [Idly] What honey?

•  Number one; Equality.

 •  You-know-who to be vanished from this earth in a puff of smoke and put on Mars or something.

delete outer space trump

•  And then my third thing would be, so, all the children who have been pried from their moms -moms or dads-  just, all families to be reunited.

del family reunification

Mom:  [Takes out laptop in order to transcribe verbatim.]

•  Fifth thing, would be for all the homeless people to have a home.

•  And all the bad people, like you-know-who supporters, to be with you know who on that planet.

•  And my seventh thing would be, um, for all of us -everyone in this car- to be like spiderman, except with a million dollar bills, and it never ran out.  And when you see a homeless person?  It’d be like “PAM!” and they’d be like “THANK YOU!!”

Spiderman-with-Box-Office-Money--35434

“PAM!”

•  That was my 8th thing.

•  And my NINTH thing would be to be at Hull already!

•  And last thing; Bernie Sanders to be president.   ‘Cuz then, Bernie Sanders would be, like… “EQUALITY!!”

del Bernie for Equality

“EQUALITY!!”

SCENE.

At Rise: How Low Can You Go

Still Friday, August 10th 2018

At Rise: The Oberhauser Four have made it to the beach for their much anticipated weekend in Hull.

Gavin: Hey Mom! [Stops digging.] Wanna know what I’m digging?

Mom: What Baby?

Gavin: A Tartarus. Do you know what a Tartarus is?

Mom: No Babe what is it?

Gavin: In Greek Mythology it’s the imprisonment pit of the Titans, and just a giant pit that nobody can get out of, below Hades.

Mom: Woah. Deeper than Hades??

Gavin: Yes.

Mom: OK honey.

Gavin: [Resumes digging.]

Scene.

Not that I needed to verify but it does check out:

As does the accompanying image on the Wikipedia page:

Afterall what does any Greek God need?

A Goddess to supervise of course. (o;
