Ayanna Pressley Rises: Her First One-Minute Speech on the House Floor

January 8th 2018

*My* U.S. Representative in Congress, Ayanna Pressley of the 7th Congressional District of Massachusetts, delivered her first speech on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in response to the ongoing government shutdown.  It took only one minute and she received blowback from establishment Democrats for making her stance “personal.”

Rep. Ayanna Pressley pushes back against President Trump [1:10]:

The very fact that she got blowback on this tells me she is doing the right thing.  Now is NOT the time to step in line with establishment.  I am so proud to have a representative that REPRESENTS me.  Yes please, Goddess, keep it up.  This is personal!

Here’s her speech:

“Madam Speaker,

I rise today in opposition to the occupant of the White House. Mr. Trump, you took an oath just as I did 5 days ago, to protect and defend the Constitution and the American people.

Sir, you dishonor that oath. You devalue the life of the immigrant, the worker and the survivor. I see right through you and so do the American people.

This has nothing to do with border security. Your shut down, another Trump generated crisis, has brought a tsunami of hurt.

So, I rise today to lift the voices of the unheard. I rise today on behalf of the families concerned about feeding their children because their WIC benefits will run dry.

I rise today in solidarity with the thousands of workers with calloused hands and broken spirits working for no pay.

I rise today in support of the survivor fleeing violent hands, seeking safety, only to find the shelter door locked because of your shutdown.

I rise today in support of the American people, who believe in the promise of this nation and ask for honest pay for an honest day’s work.

Today I rise as one and I stand as thousands.

Thank you and I yield back.”

Shining Light: New Lungs

January 2019

One of the most beautiful things I’ve seen around the internet lately.

Look at this extraordinary privilege of BREATHING OXYGEN we all take for granted every moment of every day.

Sunday, January 6th 2018

Hi Moma!  You ow me 10$!  I want it Not in 1’s. OK?  I want the 10$ plese give it to me today.

Never anticipated parenting to feel like a part time hostage situation.  But yes I did what she said.  In fact I offered her a $20 for her $10 plus ten 1’s and she accepted the deal and it was a fair trade and I did not get hurt.

Just When I Think I Could Not Possibly Love This Goddess Right Here Any More…

Friday, January 4th 2018

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.jpeg

“It is unsurprising to me that that Republicans would think having fun should be disqualifying or illegal.”

It is not news that small-minded, cowardly men are afraid of self-empowered, fully expressed, intelligent women.  So it is not entirely surprising that the GOP finds so much time to attack and troll Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at every turn.

Today’s attempt was particularly embarrassing, as they tried to embarass her for having performed in a dance video in college.

Here she is being freaking fabulous, WAY back in her 20’s.  (Psych!  She’s still in her 20’s!  Youngest person ever to serve in Congress!)

Phoenix – Lisztomania – Boston University Brat Pack Mashup [4:20]:

This piece was an homage to this famous scene from The Breakfast Club movie.

Karla Devito – We Are Not Alone (The Breakfast Club) (1985) [3:43]:

Like, she had friends and had fun in college.  The HORRORS.

So naturally, this Goddess, even though I didn’t think I could possibly love her more, knows exactly how to clap back, per usual:

https://twitter.com/AOC/status/1081234130841600000?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1081234130841600000&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FAOC%2Fstatus%2F1081234130841600000

As she says:

“It is not normal for elected officials to have a reputation for dancing well, and I’m happy to be one,” Ocasio-Cortez said Friday. “It is unsurprising to me that Republicans would think having fun should be disqualifying or illegal.”

~Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Also perfect song choice of course:

War,  huh!

What it is good for?

Absolutely NOTHIN’

Say it again!

#116th Congress for the Record

Friday, January 4th 2018

When Gavin read this he said, “Wait! No. It’s actually 43 out of 45.”  I waited to be elucidated by his historical insight.   He explained, “The current president isn’t white, he’s orange.”

Be that as it may, while reading this;

He stopped and said, “Hang on a second.  I just have to say; what a time to be ALIVE.  Just as I’m old enough to begin understanding all this, a dam is bursting open and it’s like, MAKE IT RAIN!!!”  [Excited little dance.]

We also agreed that the photo of this staggering amount of badassery is so totally awesome.

del women of congress

Specifically our own Ayanna Pressley “Looks like James Bond or something!” he said, and that together these women look like “Ocean’s 8!”  These women definitely look like they could pull off a heist.  Or anything they set their mind to.  Such as taking on the revolting current incarnation of the “GOP,” and laying the groundwork for healthcare, education and renewable energy for all.

Victory Lap Nerd Time: Blogging About Blogging

January 1st 2018

Spoiler alert:  Super nerd time here!

Happy New Year to me.  I have finally done it; I have more or less blogged recent events up to present in near real-time.

Being obsessed with photos, videos and documentation means that for YEARS -literally all my life, and especially since having kids- I have been “behind” in documentation at all times.

But thanks to ever evolving technological advancements, devices and apps -and a little grit on my part- my abilities are slowly catching up to my hopeless, eternal WISH to be able to to document in a timely way.

But as of TODAY, January 1st 2019, I am UP TO DATE on all holiday events for the family (like 10 of them) since November.  What’s more, I just finished SCREENING the videos to my family, ON THE TV.

That last one is thanks to finally cracking open the YouTube PLAYLIST Tool.

What also helped a ton is finally creating a rubric -a chart- of steps for me to follow in order to render each documentation (see top image).

There are about 7 to 10 steps involved, including lots of DELETING of course -that most crucial but so often neglected step- and about as many apps on my computer and phone.

To wit:

i-Phone 8S  LIVE Photos

Motion stills – to stitch them together

Aviary to adjust framing or more sensitive lighting and coloring of images.

Splice – to edit into videos with titles and amazing amounts of royalty-free music

(Up til now, sourcing appropriate BACKGROUND MUSIC has been the very most time consuming step… not anymore!)

i-Photos to temporarily store it all.

PicStitch to make photo collages out of photos so as to discard less important originals.

DropBox to permanently store all raw files that make the cut.

YouTube to host all the videos, and even organize them into…

PLAYLISTS.

WordPress to host the contents of the blog:  PHOTOS, VIDEOS AND TEXT.

Finally,

TouchNote to render images into thoughtful postcards automatically sent to loved ones.

I know I’m a nerd but OMG I’m so happy and thankful to be alive in this age and to utilize all these absolutely magical tools!

Now if I could just learn to shower first…

Elizabeth Warren Running for POTUS 2020

December 31st 2018

delete warren

Elizabeth Warren in Cambridge MA

Well here’s a bright spot for the end of the year!

It’s no secret my heart belongs to Bernie, but I love her almost as much.  She is my OWN Senator no less, from my OWN town, and in addition to Senator Sanders, no one fights for the working class harder than they do.

She of course will take flack for being FEMALE (horrors), and EDUCATED (more horrors).  The orange ass in the White House has already taken his Pocahontas shots at her (is that really all he’s got?).   And of course the D.C. establishment hates her so much (how dare she set up a BUREAU* to protect CONSUMERS over big banks??) I’m sure they will stop at nothing to stoop as low and dig as deep in their pockets as possible to stop her.

I hope the working class across America will be able to hear her message because just LISTEN:

Warren on 2020 bid:  I’m in this fight all the way [2:15]:

I wish she wouldn’t use the word “Democrat,” as at this point I hate both parties.  But all the same, be still my heart woman, I love you!

Here’s her actual announcement video:
