Not Good

Monday, November 9th 2015

Yeah,  so,  2nd day of post-op is reputed to be the worst.  For Mom yesterday this was certainly true.  Unfortunately her mindset seems to have suffered terribly as well.  Her viewpoint seems prone to helplessness and fatalism, she has not yet been able to comply with PT, and she is caught in the catch-22 between being being debilitated by sleep from all the pain meds, or just debilitated by unbearable pain.

I don’t know but it’s day #3 and if she doesn’t get up and move her ass soon we’re going have a whole new world o’ hurt on our hands.

Hadn’t seen this before. I don’t recall being asked to do P T at this stage. I wasn’t moving because the cardiologist had me on toxic levels of beta and calcium blockers.

Once I figured this out and declined some of the meds I began to wake up.

Gee, thanks for telling the world I was prone to helplessness and fatalism.

You must have been briefed by the Nurses Ratched. There were two of them. One of them indeed told me I was going to get pneumonia and die because I had not used a gizmo placed by my bed. No one had instructed me what the gizmo was or what it was for. Once I knew what it was and how to use it, I used it. And got better.

This is a little too public a forum to air the post-op waxes and wanes of a person at their most vulnerable, e.g. 3 days post-op!

I can’t believe you did this.

When I die, be sure to go into the embalming room and video the funeral director pumping me full of formaldehyde. Post it on Facebook.

  4. Mom I understand you’re upset. I’m sorry. I understand your sensitivity to privacy around these things and will do my best to honor that in future.
