Getting is fun, but not as fun as GIVING. So it looks like Christmas will be happening for me TODAY. Somehow last night I managed to finish the ONE project that was most important to me this year; a Sleep Sac for my nephew. This is the one thing I’ve been gunning for this year, since before his *September* Birthday actually. That’s why it’s my “Miracle” this Christmas; looks like I’m about to pull it off. Better *anytime* than never, right? And he leaves for chilly Vermont TOMORROW, so I’m determined he gets it *today.* I can hardly wait.
Here’s the rough draft:
[Thank you MOM for generously letting me use the outer-space fleece. It definitely makes the whole project; thank you! ]
The Sleep Sacs offer SO much comfort, fun and proprietary coziness, let alone security and continuity through trips and transitions. My daughter uses hers at nap time at school every day. I’m pretty sure hers is the only blankie you can *crawl inside,* which then becomes a *fort* as much as a *sleep* spot.
Back to Miles’ though. I wanted to sew in a little tag “To Miles Love Aunt Jenny,” and it turned into a funky secret inner pocket as well:
NO, not “Yours.” Yes you’re gorgeous, but MOVE it, Cat.
This little inner Secret Pocket is full up with P-O-S-S-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y. I hope he grasps that at some point. Meanwhile the dimension of the OUTER pocket enabled this one to fold up even more nicely than previous efforts:
It’s SO, SEW, easy to make, and therefore FUN. I *refuse* to measure anything (yawn), just eyeball everything and any irregularities just add to the homemade, one of a kind charm anyhow. And the cost is somewhere between minimal and nothing, depending on how you source the material. It really comes down to the stars aligning in your life to afford some unadulterated time at the sewing table. Like for example your husband saying, “How about you come home and SEW tonight?” on the phone home from work. THAT SURE HELPS. [Thank You ManMeat!!!]
Again this was finished late at night (of course), with only animals to model the final product; some stuffed, some real:
A: Teddy & Doggy = Stuffed. Bunnies & Cat = for Real.
WARNING: Sorry Miles, but Animals Not Included.
