I guess this how they do it, we don’t know. In any case Grandma Z sure makes it fun for us from way down there. Thanks Grandma Z & looking forward to seeing you soon!
Meanwhile in politics:
Did everything we could to leave politics off the menu this one day.
Nevertheless we persist and:
ALWAYS BE RESISTING
And watch out for killer babies who arrange the pillows on your bed into a mountain, declare, “Dis my stuff!” and proceed to defend it with their very, whole, pamper-clad self.
Senate Republicans are going “nuclear” to override opposition to appointing an anti-feminist, corporatist conservative judge (Gorsuch) to the U.S. Supreme Court,
Our Babboon-in-Chief is theatrically following through with his imperative to throw another oil party war in the Middle East (Syria), and
There is a group organizing to create a political party that represents the PEOPLE and not just the corporate, military-industrial interests of the oligarchy.
“Democrats would have us forget that it was their zealous devotion to neoliberalism that gave us President Trump in the first place. They traded their partnership with organized labor for an alliance with Wall Street. They rigged the primary for the sake of nominating the epitome of the establishment in the midst of a political revolution.
“Where is the major party for the 94 percent of Americans who say that money in politics is a problem? Where is the major party for the 60 percent who want single payer health care? Where is the major party for the 62 percent who want free public college? We have two parties that represent corporations. Where is the people’s party?
“It’s right here, in each of you. This is how it begins.
“One hundred and sixty years ago, facing a pro-slavery Whig party that had abandoned them, abolitionist pioneers gathered in conversations such as this one. Together, those 19th century progressives overthrew a major party and ushered in a decades-long period of dominance for their new party.
“Now, in the midst of a second Gilded Age, we must assemble once more to cast off the establishment parties and declare that this country belongs to the people!
I had this crushing feeling when I heard on the news, and went to bed with this cringing resolve to LOOK today.
I cannot claim to even begin to know what in living hell is the deal with Syria. (I *ASSUME* it is an innocent bystander in the tug-of-war between U.S. and Russia for access to OIL pipelines to be run through their country, as well as another wonderful opportunity to export military arms and equipment. Rumors even suggest that different factions from the U.S. are even fighting each other over there.)
*(Recorded about the U.S. buildup to war yesterday just before news broke of the latest chemical attack.)
WELP, I do not know What in Man’s Godforsaken Hell to do. But I know for sure I can start by NOT averting my eyes, NOT shutting my mind and NOT closing my heart.
THESE CHILDREN, dying naked in the mud, choking on chemicals and gasping their last breaths … are MY CHILDREN.
On the same day I got to see Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren (3/31/17), it is notable that Bernie was busy having a 3-gig day. Before the Our Revolution Rally, he gave two talks on his book, Our Revolution.
First he spoke at Boston’s John F. Kennedy Library:
from Michael C. via Facebook
In Our Revolution, Sanders shares his personal experiences from the campaign trail, recounting the details of his primary fight and the people who made it possible. He outlines a progressive economic, environmental, racial, and social justice agenda that will create jobs, raise wages, protect the environment, and provide health care for all—and ultimately transform our country and our world for the better.
Then he spoke in Cambridge at M.I.T, hosted by Harvard Book Store. Here is the full video of his talk, which I listened to and recommend and love.
In particular I love the moment at 1:21:38 where he actually sits down for a second. And I do mean one SECOND. Anyone working that hard for their country, planet and fellow humans deserves to REST once in a while!
On a personal note, it really steams me anytime someone suggests that he is “old.” The gall. Anyone who says that does not know what they are talking about.
People who know me well consider me a bit of an Energizer Bunny, but Bernie is 30 years older than me and exercises more consistent chutzpah, energy, clarity, ambition, compassion, discipline and stamina than I recall ever doing in my life.
Then on Monday, he did what he told us he would do which is introduce a bill to make college tuition FREE.
I haven’t even finished listening to this one yet; my boyfriend gets around and is hard to keep up with! For now I’m just reveling in this concept of “INTEGRITY.” You know, where you act according to your word and do what you say you were going to do, preferably from some deep rooted principles for the greater good. Things about which the current disaster in the White House knows absolutely N O T H I N G.
For teaching us to fight for social, racial, economic and environmental justice… every day!
♥♥♥♥
PS: And the next day both he and Ms. Warren were on the Senate floor passionately protesting Chump’s nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch for U.S. Supreme Court Nominee. Fingers crossed a thousand times we keep this corporate shill from the Supreme Court!
Of course there are a lot of haters… especially haters on behalf of big money, money swindlers or from anyone who does not trust or enjoy the brainchild of an indomitable FEE-MALE such as the CFPB’s creator, Elizabeth Warren. Yet here for example are a bunch of high military officials attesting to its vital utility:
And here is a link to a section I expect to explore more;
This report on “Building Blocks to Help Youth Achieve Financial Capability,” purports to describe how young people can acquire the building blocks of financial capability:
1) executive function,
2) financial habits and norms, and
3) financial knowledge and decision-making skills.
The report lays out four key strategies for implementing these developmental building blocks:
1. Developing executive function,
2. Help caregivers actively shape their child’s financial socialization,
3. Provide children and youth with opportunities to learn from experience, and

I look forward to dissecting everything Bernie had to say at the Our Revolution Rally in Boston, as I obviously cannot get enough of the man & his messages. In the meantime here is his talk -from earlier that day- at MIT, because after who is better at speaking for him than himself:
