Bernie at M.I.T. and More

March 31st-April 3rd 2017

On the same day I got to see Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren (3/31/17), it is notable that Bernie was busy having a 3-gig day.  Before the Our Revolution Rally, he gave two talks on his book, Our Revolution.

First he spoke at Boston’s John F. Kennedy Library:

In Our Revolution, Sanders shares his personal experiences from the campaign trail, recounting the details of his primary fight and the people who made it possible. He outlines a progressive economic, environmental, racial, and social justice agenda that will create jobs, raise wages, protect the environment, and provide health care for all—and ultimately transform our country and our world for the better.

Then he spoke in Cambridge at M.I.T, hosted by Harvard Book Store.  Here is the full video of his talk, which I listened to and recommend and love.

Bernie Sanders in Cambridge MA at MIT 3-31-17:

In particular I love the moment at 1:21:38 where he actually sits down for a second.  And I do mean one SECOND.  Anyone working that hard for their country, planet and fellow humans deserves to REST once in a while!

On a personal note, it really steams me anytime someone suggests that he is “old.”  The gall.  Anyone who says that does not know what they are talking about.

Bernie Sanders Running to the Train [:07]:

People who know me well consider me a bit of an Energizer Bunny, but Bernie is 30 years older than me and exercises more consistent chutzpah, energy, clarity, ambition, compassion, discipline and stamina than I recall ever doing in my life.

Then on Monday, he did what he told us he would do which is introduce a bill to make college tuition FREE.

Bernie Sanders 4-3-17 – The push to make public colleges tuition-free [39:33]:

I haven’t even finished listening to this one yet; my boyfriend gets around and is hard to keep up with!  For now I’m just reveling in this concept of “INTEGRITY.”  You know, where you act according to your word and do what you say you were going to do, preferably from some deep rooted principles for the greater good.  Things about which   the current disaster in the White House knows absolutely N O T H I N G.

For teaching us to fight for social, racial, economic and environmental justice… every day!

PS: And the next day both he and Ms. Warren were on the Senate floor passionately protesting Chump’s nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch for U.S. Supreme Court Nominee.  Fingers crossed a thousand times we keep this corporate shill from the Supreme Court!

Thank you for posting. Wonderful and incredibly inspiring. Yes, the CLARITY is a key to the inspiration. I agree with Bernie on every point except one. I am not a big enough person to release my conviction that Trump voters are, mostly, racist and misogynist, even if at levels they cannot or will not access. Despair, perhaps, diseases of despair, yes, okay, but to buy Trump’s lies requires more than that and Trump knew it and accessed it. But Bernie is certainly correct, we have a much higher plateau on which to build progressivism than we started with 100 years ago. A wonderful line from a very old African American woman nearing death, from “Designing Women” of all sources: “We ain’t where we should be, we ain’t where we will be, but praise God Almighty, we ain’t where we were!”

    • Amen and thank you mom. I struggle mightily every day with forgiveness of those who voted him in…especially those near and dear to me. It remains unfathomable. Bernie is simply a greater man than all of us… but he IS us. And alas it’s my blog so I can fawn all over him if I want to!

    • PS: Did you see him sit down for *A* second?
