Our Revolution Rally – U.S. Queen Elizabeth

“Brothers and sisters, she was warned.  She was given an explanation.  And nevertheless she persisted.  Our senior senator from Massacusetts is a working class champion.  Senator Warren is an example of what it means to persist in the face of adversity, and to fight for what is right BECAUSE it is right.  Like Bernie Sanders, her leadership is defined not only by the faith that we have in her, but by the hope she has in each of us… SENATOR ELIZABETH WARREN!”

Here is my summary of what my queen Ms. Liz had to say:

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren:

“We’re in this fight because we believe in The America that we can build for all of us.  THAT’s why we’re in this fight.

queen liz

“What do we fight for?  We believe:

  • Every kid in this country is entitled to get an education without getting crushed by student loan debt, and that means debt-free college. WE WILL DO THIS!

Healthcare is not some frivolity available for the rich;

  • Healthcare is a basic right for every human being. YES!

And when we talk about how, once again, we are going to strengthen working families how we’re going to create opportunity for poor families how we’re going to have a solid middle class, I always remind myself;

  • UNIONS built America’s class and unions will rebuild America’s middle class.  You bet we will!

And when we’re talking about dignity and fairness, I remind myself that;

  • After a lifetime of hard work, people are entitled to retire with a little digity, and that means protecting and expanding SS & medicare for ALL of our people.  Yes!

I remind myself too, every time I come back from Washington;

  • We are a people where there is no room for bigotry; we are a nation of immigrants, that Black Lives Matter, that we will be a people who stand for each other.  Yes!  You bet!

(Then at 1:27:45 she says, “God I love to be from Massachusetts,” after which you can actually hear my own voice shouting “WE LOVE YOU!”)

She goes on to say, “I cannot believe I have to say this in 2017. We believe that:

  • Women should make their own health care decisions over their own bodies and that Planned Parenthood WILL receive funding from the federal government.  We will fight for them!  All the way!  It’s OUR healthcare.  You bet!

And she says, “this one is a little scary for some people, so reach over and hold your neighbor… in a respectful way… everyone ready?  OK here we go:

  • “WE BELIEVE IN SCIENCE.”

At this one of course we all freaked out at the SCANDAL of saying such a blasphemous proclamation.  I *knew* she was going to say that and I stood up in the audience and yelled to her, “NO YOU DIDN’T!  NO YOU DIDN’T!”  And you can see her looking and pointing at me when she says “Yes” at 1:28:51.

And because we believe in SCIENCE, we believe;

  • Climate change is real and we have a moral obligation to protect this earth for our children and our grandchildren.  Yes!

Furthermore:

  • We believe Wall Street needs MORE regulation not less regulation to wreck our economy.  Do you believe in that?  Yes!

And finally:

  • DEMOCRACY IS NOT FOR SALE.  We must overturn CitizensUnited and we must return this government to the people!

And that’s why I wanted to be here with my friend Bernie Sanders!  Come on out Bernie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Revolution – It’s Happening!

Friday, March 31st 2017 – Orpheum Theatre Boston

hqdefault_live.jpg

I am verklempt with all the feels after possibly a once in a lifetime experience.  As Elizabeth Warren says [at 1:01:25], “You know, this is my first time here in Massachusetts to introduce my dear friend BERNIE SANDERS.  It’s gonna happen!”

And it did!  (Full video below.)

Here was my journey getting there.  I know I’m a total nerd but being in the presence of these warriors is SO INSPIRING!!!

2017 03 31 MY OUR REVOLUTION WITH WARREN & SANDERS [8:30]:

In this full video of the event, I cannot recommend highly enough that you view the speaker Darius Seafus -appearing at 38:45 speaking on behalf of livable wages:

In the News:

Boston Globe:  Cheers, whistles and ‘Bernie’ chants greet Sanders at Boston rally

CNN:  Sanders criticizes Clinton campaign, Democrats at Boston rally

Alternet:  Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren Rally the ‘Revolution’ In Boston and Prepare for Next Big Fight Against Trump

“It didn’t happen because we got out there and fought back!” Warren said of Republicans’ Obamacare replacement bill.

Big Cat, Little Cat

March 29th 2017

The kids and I can hardly get enough of this video of our “Kitten in the Future.”

The guy cracks me up, alternatively cooing compliments and kisses with yelling out in pain as the cat keeps “kissing” him back.

Here is our home version of this video, featuring our own Darth Snowflake and ClaraJane.

Colin Kaepernick – Modern Day Hero

March 2017Colin Kaepernick

Maybe it’s easy for me to NOT hate Colin Kaepernick because I couldn’t give a flying crap about FOOTBALL.  More specifically I hate the space that professional football has come to occupy in American culture.  I hate it because of the criminal behavior it espouses in it’s players;  go ahead and thrash your wife, just show up to practice, we got money to make.  Don’t mind that concussed ringing in your ear, we’ll use you for as long as you’re useful. Also because football is the #1 corporate circus designed to distract citizens from anything actually important going on, like systemic racism, sexism, economic inequality, environmental injustice and more.

For my children and others who may not know, Colin Kaepernick incurred the wrath of the media and football fans everywhere when he decided to exercise his FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS by PEACEFULLY PROTESTING the “National Anthem,” which is the song that has come to symbolize the United States yet also has horrifically racist origins.  Literally glorifies the deaths of slaves, for the benefit of the “freemen” and the “home of the brave.” (Lyrics here.)

When Kaepernick last year opted to take a knee instead of put hand over heart… oh man the outrage.  Wow.  Not that they could point to a way in which it WOULD be acceptable for him to protest… just not THAT way.

Meanwhile, this dude has committed himself to incredible amounts of charity and activism on behalf of the vulnerable and oppressed.  $100K x 10 months to be specific, for a total of One Million Dollars of his personal earnings, as delineated on his website:

 http://kaepernick7.com

And you know when giving $50K to Meals-on-Wheels pisses off idiots like Sarah Palin, you are be doing something right.

A Brave Newscaster on Colin Kaepernick’s Critics [3:54]:

Just look at his articulate response to the outrage over his socks, for example.

To that point, why SHOULDN’T police -or Christians, or Muslims, or whites, etc. etc.- take a stand against those amongst us whose conduct is unacceptable and -hopefully- misrepresentative?  Not all cops are bad, not all whites are racists, not all Muslims are jihadists, not all Christians are imperialists.

Right?

Hmm.

Here’s a peek into his amazing  “Know Your Rights” work [1:39]:

Here are the 10 Points he preaches in “Know Your Rights” Camp:

10 Points

1. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE FREE.

2. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE HEALTHY.

3. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE BRILLIANT.

4. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE SAFE.

5. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE LOVED.

6. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE COURAGEOUS.

7. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE ALIVE.

8. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE TRUSTED.

9. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE EDUCATED.

10. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

And by the way  “Kaepernick is also promoting a campaign to raise millions of dollars for drought relief in Somalia.” ~NY Post

Thank you Colin Kaepernick, for being a Modern Day Hero!

Eartha Kitt – Woke A.F.

A little history filler for those of us for whom Eartha Kitt was before a time of our awareness.

FTR:  President Johnson sent the FBI & CIA after her for speaking truth to power about black kids being sent to get killed in Vietnam.  The gall.  She said Black Lives Matter in 1968, and her career was punished for it.

Eartha Kitt [4:12]:

What is not to love about this incomparable woman?

Nevertheless SHE PURRSISTED.

Complicity

From Saturday Night Live 3/11/2017:

COMPLICIT -SNL [1:43]:

Another great job by the SNL Crew (and Scarlett Johanssan).

*sigh*

And, PS:  F#ck you Ivanka.  Especially f#ck your ENTIRE family (except your baby of course… until he grows up to be like the rest of you).  You oligarchical, fossil fuel promoting, hypocritically manufacturing-your-shit-in-Ghina, contractor grifting, emoluments violating, “fact” fabricating, big game animal murdering, health care repealing, xenophobic policy making M*therF#CKERS.

May your “Trump” Empire truly burn in Hell; Hell on Earth.  Preferably BEFORE burning our country and planet down with you.

But that the day will come in my life or my children’s lives when your family is but a smear in the rearview annals of our planet’s history, along with the rest of so called “leaders” who bore no concern for the welfare of the common man.

I do not like to hate but my moral outrage and hate for you has few bounds.

FUCK!!!!!!!

PPS:  AND  A BIG HOWDY-DO TO MY TRUMP SUPPORTING READERS!  WHASSUP!?!?!  Having fun yet???  Did you  know your thunderous SILENCE is LOUD AND CLEAR???  Do you know that??? HOW DOES THAT CULPABILITY TASTE???  Is it worth it… to have your tax bracket protected or whatever at the expense of people losing heath care and having their families ripped apart???  Do you really not care if our policies kill off species of animals and destroy public lands??   Do you think I am making that up??  Do you think if you were born in different circumstances you would not do any and everything you could to try giving your family a fighting chance?  Do you think you are SPECIAL because the vagina you came out of happened to be on U.S. SOIL?  Is your skin color the same as everyone’s around you??  Do you think that’s coincidence??  So long as YOU are enjoying your nice, cozy safe privilege…is that all that matters??

Taekwondo Kids

Wednesday, March 15th 2017

Gavin does not profess to love Taekwondo, however it is incredibly good for him.  So the latest Belt Testing for which he may not be quite ready loomed near, I asked him if he’d rather approach it as a practice, and maybe do the actual belt test next time.

What a great choice that ended up being for our family.  (He can earn a “Maintenance Stripe” for now.)  I do not care how fast or far he advances in the sport.  I more care that he continue doing it… and see what he can give and get out of it over time.  Plus I find the influence of Miss Amy & Mr. Bart to be invaluable.

And meanwhile ClaraJane LOVES Taekwondo.  What do I know?
