Where the magic comes from


Alas, ClaraJane and I found the time for the annual Making of the Fire Cider!


She is such a fabulous Sous Chef I’m so glad there’s something we can do in the kitchen together even if it isn’t quite, well, cooking.

This year we used:

  • red onion
  • yellow onion
  • two bulbs of garlic (one diced, one mashed)
  • fresh grated ginger
  • fresh grated horseradish root
  • lemon
  • lime
  • orange
  • fresh rosemary
  • turmeric
  • thyme
  • peppercorns
  • cloves
  • bay leaves
  • cayenne pepper
  • habanero pepper
  • raw, unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar

After a month of marinating and turning it daily we’ll strain out the fiber, add raw organic local honey and bottle it up for our unsuspecting victims loved ones.
