AT RISE:  Daddy is holding the phone so Boy can talk with Grandpa Pops.

POPS:  Well Gavin, what do you think of having school at home?

GAVING:  Well [pause].  It’s good AND it’s bad.

POPS:  I bet.

GAVIN:  It’s good because it takes less time at home.

POPS:  Mm-hmm.

GAVIN:  But it’s bad because I don’t get to see my friends.

POPS:  [Pause.]  Well that pretty much sums it up!

ClaraJane’s Online Weekly Class Meeting

Monday, April 27th 2020

After a week’s reprieve over April Break, today we resume homeschool.  Except now instead of getting through 3 to 5 weeks, physical school will remain closed for the rest of the school year; about nine more weeks.

This week’s online class meeting is an adorable bright spot in my child’s day –not to mention she is surrounded by three cats– but for me it evokes grief at the restriction from my kids even JUST BEING AROUND OTHER KIDS.

.

Educating this generation is important so they don’t end up with even more relatives supporting a “leader” who suggests people inject themselves with bleach in response to a pandemic, for example.

Louis Jordan’s Deacon Jones

April 2020

Thanks to quarantine ukulele lessons I have been reminded of the late, great Louis Jordan.

.

Here he is eviscerating the corruption that comes with power, especially within the so-called “Christian” church, which of course continues to do more harm in the history of mankind than most other entities.

Here he is performing Deacon Jones around 1944:

Louis Jordan & His Tympany Five–Deacon Jones [2:37]:

.

Just imagine the courage and cajones he had, performing this and so much more as a black man for all the ignorant white audiences at the time.
